Eddie Money, ‘Two Tickets to Paradise’ singer, dies

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — The family of rock Star Eddie Money says he has died at 70. died Friday. Money died Friday.

The husky-voiced, blue collar performer was known for such hits as “Two Tickets to Paradise” and “Take Me Home Tonight.” In 1987, he received a best rock vocal Grammy nomination for “Take Me Home Tonight,” which featured a cameo from Ronnie Spector.

A statement provided by his family reads: “The Money Family regrets to announce that Eddie passed away peacefully early this morning. It is with heavy hearts that we say goodbye to our loving husband and father. We cannot imagine our world without him. We are grateful that he will live on forever through his music.”

Boy, 12, struck by car in southwest Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A 12-year-old boy was transported to the hospital after he was struck by a car Friday morning near Jones Boulevard and Warm Springs Road. There is no word yet on the child’s condition.

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Large crowds are rolling into Las Vegas for the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs. NASCAR under the Lights is taking over the Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

The events started Thursday with NASCAR shutting down a portion of Las Vegas Boulevard. The Strip turned into “Burnout Boulevard.” In spectacular NASCAR fashion, drivers had some fun near Planet Hollywood and made their way to Spring Mountain Road to do donuts. CLOSE CALL: Plane narrowly misses hitting workers

BACO RATON, Florida — This plane crashed in Boca Raton, Florida on Wednesday and narrowly missed workers at an aircraft maintenance company. The plane was making an emergency landing when the crash happened.

Officials say the plane took off around 10:30 a.m. and a short time later the pilot called to say he needed to return to the airport. The crash was caught on surveillance video from Reliable Jet Maintenance.

Program gives hope, support to children battling life-threatening diseases

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Amanda Hope Rainbow Angels provides free support and services to thousands of children and their families in Southern Nevada. There’s a big fundraiser this weekend to benefit those children battling cancer and other life-threatening diseases.

One young patient says the program has given her hope. Louisa Christy is in sixth grade.

“I love school,” she said.

She plays the harp, sings and loves to dance and she can do it all because of a life-saving treatment.

“If I didn’t have the treatments, I wouldn’t be here right now.”

Louisa has a primary immune deficiency. She’s been coming to the Cure 4 the Kids Clinic in Las Vegas since she was 10 months old to receive IV infusions.

Police looking to ID woman accused of robbing business

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Metro Police are looking for a woman accused of robbing a business in early August. They released a photo of the woman they are seeking.

The robbery happened on Aug. 8 around 6:14 p.m. at the business located on Decatur Boulevard near Tropical Parkway.

According to police, the woman stole items from the business and when she was confronted as she left the business, she threatened the person with a knife.

She is described as a white woman around the age of 30, 5′ 7″, 200 pounds, with blonde hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a tank top and jeans.
