HENDERSON - Billie Jean James vanished without a trace from her Henderson home on April 22. Police, friends and family spent months searching for the 67-year-old woman but never found her. Now, the case has taken a new turn.

While cleaning out a cluttered room of their home, Billie Jean James' husband found a body and called the cops. Police investigated the James home on Wednesday. Shortly after police left the home, Bill James emerged and delivered a brief statement to the media.

"I would like to say I appreciate everything you've done through this whole four months to help find her," he said. He says he believes his wife of 40 years died in their home, but declined to elaborate. "I don't feel like talking anymore. Thank you," he said.

A neighbor, 7-year-old MCKenna Welz, was inside the James home playing dominos with Bill James, when he made the grisly discovery. "He freaked out," she said. "He thought it was a mannequin, but then he knew it was Billy Jean." "He got scared and told me to go home, and he told me it was probably Billy Jean," Welz said. "I started crying, because I got sad, because she was my best, best friend."

MCKenna says the room containing the body was filled with junk. "It was really messy, almost up to the ceiling," she said. "She was probably getting some stuff out, and probably everything fell on top of her."

Metro Police are investigating if Billie Jean James was in the home the entire time since her disappearance. "The house was searched," said Metro Police Officer Bill Cassell. "It's important to understand that inside this residence, it is exceptionally cluttered to the point that movement within the residence is restricted and extremely difficult."

So far, Metro Police have not arrested anyone in this case. The coroner will determine the cause and manner of death and officially identify the body.
