Man accused of shooting, killing man in Henderson arrested by police

A 38-year-old man wanted in connection with the killing of another man was arrested Friday afternoon in Henderson.

Gerald Polk, a four-time convicted felon, is being held in the Henderson Detention Center on the following charges:

Open murder

Possessing a firearm by a prohibited person and possessing narcotics for sale

Polk is accused of shooting the man in the stairwell of the Lakewood Cove apartment complex after a verbal dispute. The victim was shot in buttocks and succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Polk is accused of shooting and killing a 32-year-old man who was found at approximately 2 a.m. Friday morning at the Lakewood Cove Apartments located in the 1100 block of Center Street.

Henderson Police said officers were following up on a tip when they found Polk in the 500 block of Holick Avenue in Henderson. Polk was arrested at that location around 10:30 a.m.

The name of the victim will be released by the Clark County Coroner's Office after the family has been notified.
