2 arrested for 'Jugging,' trending crime among accused thieves

Henderson Police arrested two men for committing a growing crime around the country.

Cedric Ray Henderson, 27, and Ladarian Glenn, 25, were arrested for stalking people before breaking into their vehicles and stealing large amounts of cash. According to law enforcement, the crime trend is called "Jugging."

Henderson Police said the suspects would target the victims as they left the bank with a bank bag or bank envelope. The suspects would then follow the victims to their next stop or destination, and break into the victim's vehicle and steal the cash that they had stashed under a seat or in a trunk.

"We saw a number of incidents since last summer and knew that there would be another round of victims if we didn't stop these suspects," Henderson Police Chief Patrick Moers said. "It was the good work of Henderson Police officers who caught the suspects to hold them accountable for what they have done."

As part of the investigation, Henderson Police conducted surveillance around area banks. They observed a suspicious vehicle traveling through several bank parking lots.

The vehicle was determined to be a rental car which was rented in a third person's name. The rental car windows were also tinted from the outside.

"Jugging" became prominent in Houston, Texas where it quickly became one of Houston's fastest growing crimes, police said.

Both Henderson and Glenn are from Houston, Texas. When officers contacted the suspects, they found numerous items associated with the use of burglary tools. They were arrested without incident.

The men were booked into the Henderson Detention Center on Feb. 22 on numerous felony and gross
misdemeanor counts of burglary attempted burglary and possession of burglary tools.
