Owner: Legacy Golf Course to open for play Oct. 1

The embattled Legacy Golf Course in Henderson will reopen in October, putting the brakes on plans to turn the property into homes.

New course owners have faced a legal challenge from neighbors over their development proposal.

After a loss in court Tuesday, one of the business partners said Legacy would be returned to a golf course and stay that way.

A company hired to bring the land back to playing shape said it could reopen by Oct. 1. Despite the news, homeowners are hesitant to take it at face value.

"We don't know what their intentions are. We want to believe them. We hope they're telling us the truth, but there's no way in knowing until it's actually done," said Tom Sarnelli, homeowner.

The course was bought by a company called Par Excellence, and its lawyers did not bring up this information in court Wednesday.

Company owners say they hope the golf course reopening helps reassure homeowners.
