Bus burned at Boys & Girls club

A local boys & girls club found its bus burned beyond repair Tuesday morning.

It happened near Warm Springs Road and Major Avenue in Henderson overnight. The staff received the call around 4 a.m. By the time they arrived, Henderson firefighters were already putting the fire out.

They don't know who set the bus on fire but the Boys & Girls Club of Southern Nevada confirms it is the same bus vandalized last month.

In that incident, someone also tried burning it but the bus was still able to be restored. Sadly, this time, clubhouse director Russell Jones says that won't be the case.

"Honestly, it's a logistical nightmare. We're going to have to satellite people out this afternoon as far as dropping off. We pick up from 13 schools locally," he said.

No one was injured.

Even though this particular club has three other vehicles, Jones says this still puts a strain on their entire operation.

The club is non-profit so this is not an easy financial fix.
