VIDEO: Henderson Police release body camera video of officer-involved-shooting

Henderson Police released body camera footage of the officer-involved shooting that occurred last week.

It happened on Aug. around 8:10 p.m. in a parking lot located at 2667 Windmill Parkway.

Preliminary investigation indicates that on Sunday night at approximately 8:10 p.m., a patrol officer came into contact with three people that were involved in suspicious activity.

Larry Calvert was in the driver's seat. Marcella Levia was in the passenger's seat.

As an assisting officer arrived, Calvert was directed to exit his vehicle. Calvert ignored Officer E. Nielsen's commands and tried to start the car so he could flee the area.

During the investigation, the Calvert ignored the officer's commands and an altercation occurred after a second officer arrived to assist.

Henderson Police said Calvert managed to place the car into reverse, pinning Officer Nielsen within the open door and the body of the Toyota with no means to escape. Officer Nielsen moved backward attempting to get out of the path of the vehicle, but his foot was driven over as Calvert backed out the vehicle even more.

Fearing that his and the assisting officer's lives were in imminent jeopardy, Officer Nielsen subsequently fired three rounds from his service firearm. Officer Nielsen and the assisting officer were struck by the vehicle as it traveled in reverse.

Calvert fled the scene with Levia in the front passenger seat.
