Festival with Island Focus Set for This Weekend

The city of Henderson will again host the Prince Jonah Kuhio Ho’olaule’a Festival, which is set for this weekend.

The event is from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at the Henderson Events Plaza, 200 S. Water Street.

The festival will feature traditional food, entertainment, and crafts from the Pacific Islands. The event is organized by the Las Vegas Hawaiian Civic Club. This year’s festival will include the Na Mea Hawaii Cultural Village, sponsored by the Office of Hawaiian Affairs. The village will feature a number of craft demonstrations, including fresh flower leis, ribbon wristlets and kukui nut key chains.

Admission to the event is free. The festival is the Las Vegas Hawaiian Civic Club’s largest fundraiser. A portion of the proceeds will benefit a scholarship program for Hawaiians headed for college.
