Three Businesses Busted for Selling Alcohol to Kids

Clerks at three Henderson businesses were hit with citations Saturday night for allowing minors to purchase alcohol.

Henderson Police officers conducted checks of underage alcohol compliance at local stores. Officers from the Community Relations Unit, with the assistance of underage volunteers, checked 89 convenience stores, grocery stores and liquor stores throughout the city of Henderson. Of these, 86 did not sell alcohol to the underage person.

The businesses that failed were:

  • Fresh & Easy Neighborhood Market, 1400 S. Boulder Highway
  • Walgreens, 1500 S. Boulder Highway
  • AM/PM, 198 N. Pecos Road

The clerks were issued a citation for serving an underage person and face a maximum penalty of six months in jail and/or a $1,000 fine. The owners or managers of a business that fails a second or third time can also be issued a citation and could face the revocation of their business license.

Police efforts were aided in part by a federal Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws grant.
