Four Businesses Fail Alcohol Compliance Check

Four Henderson businesses sold alcohol to minors last weekend in the police department’s latest sting operation.

Police officers conducted compliance checks at 78 convenience stores, grocery stores and liquor stores throughout the city of Henderson early Sunday. Of the 78 establishments, 74 did not sell alcohol to the underage person.

The businesses that failed were:

  • CVS, 1551 W. Sunset Road
  • Green Valley Grocery, 902 S. Boulder Highway
  • Lee’s Discount Liquor, 4427 E. Sunset Road
  • Whole Foods, 100 S. Green Valley Parkway

The clerks are subject to a citation for serving an underage person and face a maximum penalty of six months in jail and/or a $1,000 fine. The owners or managers of a business that fails a second or third time can also be issued a citation and could face the revocation of their business license. Businesses that fail an alcohol compliance check generally are rechecked at some time in the future.

In addition, six businesses that had previously failed an underage alcohol compliance check were re-checked Sunday and passed. The four businesses that did fail Sunday failed a compliance check for the first time.
