City Fourth of July Party at Mission Hills Park

The City of Henderson will host its official Fourth of July party deep into the city.

The city celebration will take place from 6-9 p.m. at Mission Hills Park, 551 E. Mission Dr., near the U.S. 95 and College Drive exit. The event will feature an 18-minute fireworks show by Lantis Fireworks and Lasers, which begins at 9 p.m. Admission is free, but some activities could require a fee.

New this year will be 3-on-3 women’s and 6-on-6 co-rec volleyball tournaments played on grass, three-legged races and a water bucket brigade. Signup for these tournaments begins at 5:30 p.m.

Activities for children include face-painting, sand art, bounce houses, and cooling off in the park’s splash pad.

Also returning is country music group the Randy Anderson Band and the Henderson Symphony Orchestra, which will perform before and during the fireworks display. The Battle of the Bands contest, in which teen bands compete to win a $1,000 gift certificate from Guitar Center and the opportunity to record in-studio, also will return.

Foothill and Basic high schools will run food and drink concessions. Proceeds benefit each school’s student clubs and groups.

Starting at 5:30 p.m., a free shuttle will run from the CSN parking lot at 700 College Dr. to the Fourth of July Celebration during the event.
