If the past couple of weeks haven’t been cold enough for you, an upcoming City of Henderson event might take care of that.

People are invited to brave the freezing water of the Henderson Multigenerational Activity Pool, 250 S. Green Valley Pkwy., for Henderson’s second annual Polar Bear Plunge. The event takes place from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9. Participants will ride down the slides of the outdoor activity pool and plunge into the cold water below.

The event also includes warm winter treats, activities and a bounce house. Admission is $5 per person, including those wishing to watch. Swimmers will take the plunge by age:

  • 4-12 years
  • 13-19 years
  • 20 and up

Register at http://www.cityofhenderson.com/parks/ (activity code 136502-00) or at any city of Henderson recreation center.

“We had 70 brave people take part in last year’s inaugural event and are expecting a strong turnout again in 2013,” said Mayor Andy Hafen.

The Polar Bear Plunge is not recommended for those with high blood pressure or heart conditions. For additional information, call 267-5824 or visit http://www.cityofhenderson.com/parks/events/polar_bear_plunge.php.
