New technology available at St. Rose de Lima campus

New medical technology unique to southern Nevada is helping paralyzed patients become independent and mobile again.

The three new pieces of robotic equipment are exclusive to the St. Rose de Lima campus in Henderson.  The state-of-the-art tools can improve the lives of those who use them, in part, by allowing people to stay in the valley to receive treatment.

"In the United States, there are only about 100 of these machines and in the world no more than 200. So, we have the newest, the best technology available in the United States right now," Dr. Tony Chin, with St. Rose Impatient Rehabilitation Facility, said.

That technology includes a robotic arm that helps patients achieve better mobility.

The purchase of the equipment is the first step to a large expansion of St. Rose's inpatient rehabilitation facility, which will be finished by January 1.
