Acts of Kindness: Beau Fairless

HENDERSON, Nev. - Beau Fairless and the Blue Star Mothers have spent weeks packing special Christmas stockings and care packages for troops overseas.

“They've given us so much. I think we should give something back to them as a thanks,” Fairless said.

He has a lot of family in the military, and he wants to follow in their footsteps. He is currently a proud member of the United States Naval Sea Cadet Corps.

“We drill one weekend a month at Nellis Air Force Base, go to different trainings over winter or summer. It's a really good leadership-based program,” he said.

Fairless has become a real leader. He and his fellow cadets volunteer often to help our veterans. One of their causes is Wreaths Across America.

“We put wreaths on everyone's headstones in the cemetery in Boulder City,” Fairless said.

Every Friday night, Beau also volunteers at St. Rose de Lima Hospital.

During the holidays, his mission is to get treats and necessities packed and shipped to troops overseas. It's a tradition he has made part of his holiday.

“They send us pictures with their stockings. I think they really enjoy it,” he said.

8 News NOW is rewarding Beau Fairless, awarding him $800 as part of its weekly series Acts of Kindness.
