Girl Scouts Head Out on a “Capital Caravan” | Events
Bright and early, 13 Girl Scouts departed Saturday on a “Capital Caravan” that will take them to Carson City for six days of exploring advocacy and leadership activities.
On April 21, the girls will participate in Girl Scout Government Day. The girls will meet with their local representative to advocate issues important to girls in Southern Nevada. They will also sit with legislators during a floor session, as well as observe committee testimony in an effort to better understand our legislative system.
Another highlight of the trip is an environmental service project with the Nevada Department of Wildlife where the girls will either help to restore trails at the Oxbow Nature Study Area or install protective covers for tree saplings to ensure their survival.
The girls will tour the University of Nevada, Reno campus with an alumnae from Girl Scouts, and visit the planetarium and The Wilbur D. May Center.
