Police Put Down Badges and Pick Up Serving Trays

 

Tip-a-Cop and help the Special Olympics.

Police will being turning in their badges for serving trays for the annual Tip-a-Cop event to benefit the Special Olympics. The officers from Metro, North Las Vegas, Nevada Highway Patrol, Henderson Police, even School Police will be working as waiters at Applebee’s around the valley to raise money for the charity. Last year's event raise more than $35,000 dollars.

Special Olympics is a free, year-round sports training for children and adults with developmental disabilities.

Dinner service starts at 5 o’clock until 9 o’clock tonight. Here’s a list of the participating restaurants and law enforcement agencies:

Ravella at Lake Las Vegas invites guests to celebrate Easter Sunday with a brunch and bottomless champagne bar at Medici Café and Terrace. Guests can dine in the café or soak up the spring weather on the terrace.

Seating for Ravella’s Easter Champagne Brunch will be from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. The cost is $42 plus tax and includes unlimited champagne and mimosas.

Wine Walk Event Saturday at Lake Las Vegas

White wine enthusiasts can look forward to Saturday afternoon, when Wine Walk – The White Affair will be held at Lake Las Vegas.

This event showcases local restaurants’ cuisine, paired with all white wines, cocktails, sake and beers from Wirtz Beverage Nevada. Most food will follow the white theme as well, with selections from Bernard's Bistro, Sonrisa Grill, Rocky Mountain Chocolates, Rick's Cafe, Roy's, Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, The Melting Pot, Ravella Cafe and The Auld Dubliner.

Guests are encouraged to dress in white as well. Anyone who does will be entered into a drawing for prizes throughout the afternoon. You also can meet entertainers from popular Strip shows including the gentlemen from Thunder from Down Under, the ladies of Fantasy Girls, Doug Starks as Sammy Davis Jr. from The Rat Pack, John Pandon from Sin City Comedy as they volunteer their time to help pour wine and cocktails.

The event runs from 4-8 p.m.

Tropical Smoothie Cafe in Henderson Goes 24-Hour

Tropical Smoothie Café will celebrate its 10-year anniversary in southern Nevada in mid-April with a pair of special offers and a new schedule.

The flagship store located at Eastern Avenue and Horizon Ridge Parkway in Henderson will permanently switch to a 24-hour schedule on April 18. This store is offering two anniversary specials:

  • On April 18, customers at this location who purchase a smoothie at regular price can get any sandwich or wrap for only 10 cents.
  • From April 18-24, all customers who visit this store between midnight and 6 a.m. and mention “10-year anniversary” will get 50 percent off of their entire order.

Six of the 19 Las Vegas-area stores are among the top 10 in sales throughout the company’s more than 285 locations. The top-selling store within the entire company is located at Flamingo and I-215.
