Photo Gallery | Henderson Announces Parade Winners

The City of Henderson announced the winners from this past weekend’s Heritage Parade.

Cash prizes were awarded to the top three floats along with the People’s Choice Award. The first place of $1,000 went to The Journey Church, second prize went to Campbell’s Can and Foothills High School received third place. The People’s Choice Award winner was Burkholder Middle School’s Marching Band. This is the third straight year that the school has won that award.

The judges looked at nearly 70 entries in the parade. They judged on three criteria: incorporation of theme, creativity and overall appeal. The People’s Choice Award allows people watching the parade live or from home to vote for their favorite float through text messages.

The parade and festival honored the 59 years that Henderson has been around. The theme of this year’s parade was “Magnesium to Magnificent,” which is a nod to the city’s start as a supplier of magnesium to the war effort in World War II.
